Hello!
I'm Salomé, the author of this blog. I created this space to reflect on my life and the decisions that led me where I am today. It's also a safe space to explore and share my creative interests, personal growth, new passions, and more. I hope you will find my story and some of my experiences relatable. If that's the case, please share your thoughts in the comment section. I would love to read your stories!

Adolescence
Hi, I'm Salomé, the author of this blog. I'm in my early 40s and a mother to two beautiful daughters, Miley and Haley, who now live with their father.
Growing up, my parents were strict and didn't allow me to have friends, and dating was also out of the question. I was a quiet girl who spent most of her time in her bedroom reading books and watching anime. Decisions were made for me, and I went along with them because I was content with my life.
It wasn't so bad to be on my own, or so I thought. As I grew older, I began to wonder what life would be like if I had friends or a boyfriend. I wasn't brave enough to stand up for myself, so I turned my thoughts into words, and that's how my passion for writing started.

As a teenage girl without friends, I spent most of my time in my room reading books and watching anime. It was after watching Lady Oscar, or The Rose of Versailles, that I started thinking about what my life would be like if I had friends and fell in love.
I asked my mum to buy me a diary and started writing all sorts of scenarios about me having fun with my friends. A few weeks after I started writing my imaginary friendships, I met a girl who would go on to become my best friend. Our story doesn't have a happy ending, and I'll tell you all about it in one of my posts.
This is cheesy, but I loved reading historical romance books as a teenager. My mother had an amazing collection, and my favourite books were by Barbara Cartland, a Regency romance author. If you love Bridgerton, then you should check out Barbara Cartland's. They'll make you dream of true love.
Life Abroad
I first came to England in 2007 to learn English, and returned when my relationship fell apart to start over. I grew up with both my parents and wanted the same thing for my daughters; however, things don't always go as planned in life.
I moved abroad to come to terms with the fact that I was a single mum in my early thirties and would have to raise my daughters on my own. It was a hard pill to swallow for a conservative woman, but I have no regret. It's unhealthy to stay with someone when you're unhappy!
My journey hasn't been easy in this country, but my experiences have helped me become a better person. I also moved abroad to get away from my controlling family. For a long time, I lived to please my parents, while ignoring my own wishes and desires. It isn't easy to be a foreigner, but sometimes living abroad gives you the freedom you wouldn't get back home.
Lifestyle and Hobbies
A couple of years ago, I adopted a minimalist lifestyle and have been living a simple life since. I went from being an impulse buyer to a frugal person who manages her finances better and enjoys the simple things in life. I now focus on what I need instead of what I want.
I make my own meals to save money and be healthier. I recently started baking, and it's been a fun journey. I'm also passionate about crafts such as crochet and sewing. I've been struggling with my weight since the lockdown, and I'm finally making some progress on my weight loss journey since moving to London.
I regularly go out on long walks to explore London, travel solo all over Europe, and I picked up photography as a new hobby to capture the moments and places I visit. I make vlogs about my life in the UK and solo trips around the world.
Please join my community and let's explore life together. Thank you for reading!
